Abstract

The right of access to public information stands in one of the basis for social control over the actions of the state as a whole. That was not always so, being this right more necessary under a representative democratic system. Also, to the extent that the citizens access to public information in a better way, public heritage can be managed better, guaranteeing its inviolability. The new law about access to public information will probably become an essential element to ensure the validity of that right and, as well, to protect the public heritage.
